GALERIE ISABELLE LESMEISTER is happy to present new sculptures and paintings by interdisciplinary artist Johanna Strobel. Strobel’s paintings literally and metaphorically connect motifs like butterflies, birds, and hands with strings, patterns, and words to create multiple figurative and linguistic layers of meaning.
In her sculptural work, she chooses materials based on their inherent conditions and conceptual qualities. Her elaborate ceramics and mixed media sculptures speak to entanglement, connection, order and entropy and the complexity, precariousness, and beauty of (ecological) systems.
